About Dr. Marchwiany

Daniel Marchwiany, MD, joined Murphy Wainer Orthopedic Specialists as an orthopedic surgeon with a focus on hip and knee replacement in August 2022. A graduate of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, Dr. Marchwiany completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by a Harvard Medical School Adult Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. His intensive training through Harvard added a new dimension to the services offered at Murphy Wainer. Now, patients with severe joint deformities, debilitating arthritis or failed joint replacement surgery can receive specialized care in the office from a surgeon with fellowship training in complex and revision hip and knee replacement. “Completing fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital allowed me to care for patients with very complicated problems and severe diseases of the joints, who were referred from across the country and even internationally,” Dr. Marchwiany said. “I am pleased that I can share that knowledge, the advanced techniques I learned, and a high level of care with the Greensboro community.”

HELPING PATIENTS ENJOY LIFE AGAIN

Whether seeing patients with general orthopedic injuries or those with advanced hip and knee issues, Dr. Marchwiany believes that successful care comes from taking time to listen to patients and understand their goals and ambitions. When surgery is needed, his mission is to optimize the pre- and post-operative process so patients can have a safe experience, a fast recovery and an excellent outcome. “I enjoy helping patients who are debilitated by pain return to a level of function where they can once again enjoy exercise, playing sports, traveling and keeping up with their kids and grandkids,” Dr. Marchwiany said.

FUN FACT

A lover of math and physics who enjoyed building with Legos and working with wood in his younger days, Dr. Marchwiany realized in medical school that orthopedic surgery was the perfect field to put those passions to work. “I use my hands to rebuild people, correcting their mechanics and restoring function for them,” Dr. Marchwiany said.

FAMILY AND INTERESTS

A first-generation American, Dr. Marchwiany grew up in Chicago. He initially planned to become a veterinarian because of his love for animals, but later gravitated to medicine after witnessing the sometimes scary and stressful impact of illness on people. “I recognized how important a good doctor is – not only to treat the disease, but to be caring and compassionate,” he said. “My goal is to treat patients with the same care and compassion that I would want someone to treat me and my family.” Dr. Marchwiany and his wife fell in love with North Carolina during his residency and are excited to have made their home in Greensboro. When not working, Dr. Marchwiany enjoys traveling, golf, volleyball, basketball, playing the guitar, and exploring the city with his wife and two young daughters.
